Part Number: AAQ-570
Constructed by contemporary gunmaker J.A. Wymore, this .40 caliber Virginia longrifle has an early 19th century style with the design influenced by the work of John Sheetz. Stocked in a very nice piece of curly maple, the stock is stained to best display the contrasting stripes from the buttstock to the muzzle. The brass furniture is polished bright and accented with hand engraving. The Jim Chambers small Siler flintlock and Colerain barrel are both finished to a dark brown. This well finished rifle is as-new unfired.

The .40 caliber 38" Colerain barrel is 13/16" straight octagon. Cut rifled, the bore has 6 lands and grooves with deep round bottom rifling with a 1 turn in 48 inch twist, for a tightly patched round ball. The barrel blank appears to have been trimmed from the muzzle and the bore is not quite on center, which was very common on antique rifle barrel blanks. This is easily adjusted with the sights. The rear sight is dovetailed 10" from the breech. The front sight is a browned steel blade with integral base dovetailed behind the muzzle.

Weighing in at 7.1 pounds the rifle has a trigger reach of 14", perfectly setup for today's average to larger sized shooter.
