This Ohio style halfstock longrifle is stocked in curly maple, with narrow bands and swirls of figure from the muzzle to the buttstock. The stock is finished to a dark cherry red, which contrasts the polished brass furniture and nickel silver accents. The Goulcher percussion lock is mated to double lever double set triggers, tuned to fire set or unset. The top flat of the Colerain barrel is signed by contemporary builder John F. Bergmann. This rifle is new, unfired.
The .40 caliber barrel is 13/16" straight octagon, 36" in length. Cut rifled by Colerain Barrel Company with six deep radius groove rifling with a 1 in 48" slow twist ideal for patched round ball. We recommend our Hornady .495" diameter round ball with a .018" patch, lubed with our Mink oil tallow, for best accuracy. The rear sight is dovetailed 10" ahead of the breech. The nickel silver blade front sight is dovetailed 1-1/2" behind the muzzle.
