Part Number: AAN-765
This antique double barrel percussion shotgun is stocked in walnut and trimmed in iron furniture. The front action locks are stamped E. James & Co. below the breech. The 33-1/2" Damascus barrels are stamped London Fine Twist on the upper rib of the barrel. E. James and company appears to have been in operation from 1877 to 1914 producing a variety of percussion and breech loading cartridge shotgun models.
The 33-1/2" Damascus barrels have aged to a dark gray. The twist pattern is still visible over the full length of the barrel. The right hand bore measures .790" diameter, the left hand barrel measures .795" diameter at the muzzle. The bores are fair with scattered pitting visible over the length of the bore. We recommend our 9 gauge wads for use with this shotgun. The bottom of the breech end of the barrel is stamped with a 10 gauge marking, Birmingham England proof marks, a UU stamp, and EJ(E or F?)72.
Use only black powder with lead of bismuth shot, never use steel shot in a antique shotgun.
