Part Number: AAN-786
This attractive Tennessee .40 caliber longrifle is trimmed in iron furniture, and stocked in curly maple. Many period rifles from the Appalachians were assembled with maple or walnut stocks, hand forged iron furniture, set triggers and imported English locks. This rifle is fitted with very appropriate R.E. Davis Ketland flintlock. In new condition this rifle is assembled with a light patina finish on the lock, stock, and barrel. This unique longrifle was constructed and signed by contemporary builder Nathan Stephenson.
The .40 caliber swamped octagon barrel is 44" in length. The swamped barrel is thickest at the breech for strength, tapers to a narrow waist to reduce weight, flares at the muzzle to align the sights. The barrel is cut rifled with six lands and radius grooves with a 1 in 48" twist for patched round ball. The bore is bright and clean, in as-new condition.
Weighing 7.1 pounds, the longrifle has a trigger reach of 13-3/4" and is well suited for today's average size shooter.
