Part Number: AAN-949
Stocked in figured Turkish walnut, the stock is medium dark brown with dark pattern and gold undertones. This English halfstock sporting rifle is trimmed in traditional iron furniture. The barrel is finished to a dark matte blue, while the lock and breech are polished bright. This large caliber sporting rifle is the work of Robert Woodfill.
The Colerain swamped octagon barrel is a handy 29-1/2" long. The swamped barrel is tapered and flared, thickest at the breech for strength, thinning to a waist ahead of center, and flaring slightly at the muzzle, to bring the front sight and rear sight to the same plane. The cut rifled .62 caliber bore is in perfect condition, bright and clean with a 1 in 66" twist for a tightly patched round ball. We recommend our .610" pure lead round balls, .018" patches, and Mink Oil tallow patch lubricant
Colerain rifle barrels are a favorite choice of today's best muzzle loading gun makers, because knowledgeable shooters demand Colerain's accuracy, inside and outside. Colerain rifle barrels are drilled from solid steel, cut rifled with six “round bottom" grooves. Called “radius groove rifling", Colerain eliminates the sharp inside corner that accumulates fouling. Founded by two entrepreneurs, Scott Keller and Scott Kelly were tutored by Bob Paris, the famous rifle barrel maker who was first to perfect the technique for production of correct swamped barrels.
