Part Number: AAN-969
This lovely fullstock Hawken .54 caliber flint Plains rifle is stocked in curly maple, with some very nice, evenly spaced tiger stripe figure over the length of the stock. Stained dark, the figure in the curly maple displays best when viewed in bright sunlight. The iron furniture, Colerain straight octagon barrel, and L&R late English flintlock are finished to a dark brown.

The .54 caliber Colerain barrel is 1" by 36" straight octagon. The .54 caliber bore is cut rifled with six lands and radius grooves with a 1 in 56" twist for a tightly patched round ball. Colerain rifle barrels are drilled from solid steel, cut rifled with six “round bottom" grooves. Called “radius groove rifling", Colerain eliminates the sharp inside corner that accumulates fouling. Radius groove rifling cutters are a bit more expensive to make, but Colerain's customers agree that the accuracy, easy loading, and easy cleaning are worth the cost. The bore is bright in as new condition.

Fitted with correct traditional sights, the front sight has a silver blade mounted in an early style copper dovetail base, and the rear sight is a classic early Hawken rifle sight.

The rifle weighs in at 9 pounds and has a trigger reach of 13-3/4" making it well suited for today's larger size shooter.
