Part Number: AAP-172
This pistol is a replica of a percussion conversion of a Second Model Virginia Manufactory Pistol made in Richmond Virginia circa 1812 to 1815 with just over 2000 examples produced. Originally a flintlock the design of the second Model pistol closely resembled the Harper's Ferry 1805 pistols with a bright finished barrel, walnut stock, and brass furniture. The Second Model Virginia Manufactory pistols remained in state service until the American Civil War with some examples issued to Confederate cavalry regiments.

This pistol has a neatly aged patina finish on the percussion conversion lock and tapered round smoothbore barrel. The walnut stock has been neatly aged with small handling marks to give the appearance of years of use. The pistol has been neatly marked with period assembly markings on the stock, lock, and barrel by contemporary builder S. Krolick.

The percussion conversion lock retains the remnants of the flash pan and has the filled holes from the frizzen and frizzen spring faintly visible on the plate. The lock plate is marked Virginia beneath the pan and Richmond 1813 across the tail. The latter marking is very faint as if it had been filed during alteration.
