Part Number: AAP-450
Originally made in France, at the Tulle arsenal, or at Saint Etienne, the French trade gun known as the fusil-de-chasse was a light weight gun-for-the-hunt. The stock architecture and iron trim resemble those of the heavier French military muskets, but lighter and slender. Stocked in black walnut stained to a deep cherry red, it has a striking contrast to the bright finish on the lock, barrel, and iron furniture. The iron furniture has a light speckled patina that has developed naturally. The stock is in excellent condition with a few minor handling marks.

The 28 gauge octagon-to-round barrel is 41" in length. The octagon section is 8-1/2" in length transitioning to 16 flats with a wedding band. The .55" diameter bore is bright and clean, well maintained. A small brass fusil front sight is soldered on the barrel 4-1/4" from the muzzle in French fashion. No rear sight is fitted to the barrel. This smoothbore 28 gauge gun will qualify for the new N.M.L.R.A. Trade Gun Match, where you fire patched round balls at paper targets, and shot at clay birds, using the same flint smoothbore gun.

Weighing in at 8.4 pounds the fusil has a trigger reach of 14" making it well suited for today's average size shooter.
