Part Number: AAP-409
This flint lock fowler features 1770 to 1780 era styling with browned iron trim, curly maple stock, and round faced lock. Fitted with both a front and rear sight this Kentucky fowler is similar to examples shown in Flintlock Fowlers, The First Guns Made in America by Tom Grinslade, but is not a specific copy of one of the examples. Stocked in curly maple the fowler is assembled around a 20 gauge octagon-to-round barrel mated to a round faced L&R Queen Anne lock finished to a satin gray. The iron furniture is finished to a dark blue. This fowler appears to be as-new with only few marks on the frizzen face.
The heart of the fowler is its 20 gauge, .625 caliber, octagon-to-round barrel. Measuring 42" in length the octagon-to-round barrel has been finished to a smooth blue-black color. Secured to the stock with three pins and fitted with a brass front sight and a flat top rear sight dovetailed 7-1/2" ahead of the breech.
