Part Number: AAQ-227
A nice example of a H. E. Leman fullstock percussion rifle, this rifle was hand made by contemporary builder Matt Avance and is signed on the top flat of the barrel. Stocked in curly maple, the wood has fine grain structure, and appears to be hard and dense. The browned iron furniture is well inleted and tightly fitted. This rifle is used with only a small amount of wear in the finish. Otherwise, there are only a very few tiny handling marks on the stock, as you might expect from dense maple.

Perhaps the most famous of the Lancaster makers, Henry Eicholtz Leman (also spelled Lehman early in his career), created a factory to produce arms for westbound settlers, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.

The .54 caliber cut rifled barrel measures 30" by 1" octagon. Rifled with seven narrow lands and wide grooves with a slow twist for patched round ball. The bore is bright and has been well maintained. We recommend our .530" pure lead round ball, patched with .017" Ox-Yoke ticking, lubricated with our Mink Oil patch grease, or other animal fat lubricant, if you require best accuracy. The flat top rear sight is dovetailed 10" ahead of the breech and a iron blade front sight is dovetailed behind the muzzle.
